Use the app to play music files stored on your device, which we call local files.
- Streaming music to AirPlay-enabled speakers is easy-if the app's developer built it with that in mind. Music from any Apple AirPlay-enabled app (like Spotify or Pandora).
- For Mac: Click (AirPlay Video) in the video playback controls, then choose Turn Off AirPlay. What apps and services can be used with AirPlay? If the (AirPlay Video) or (AirPlay Audio) icon is displayed in an app or service, you can use AirPlay to stream content. For detailed information for AirPlay, refer to the following website.

Bear in mind that when using Spotify Connect with your MusicCast-enabled device, you have to connect directly from the Spotify app (not the MusicCast Controller app), as shown in the sequence below: Note: There may be times when your MusicCast device will not appear in the “devices available” menu within the Spotify app, even when the phone.
- On desktop, import your local files (with the 'Desktop' steps).
- Add the files to a new playlist.
- Log in on your mobile or tablet using the same WiFi as your desktop.
- Go to Settings > Local Files and switch on Local audio files.
Note: You need to allow Spotify to find devices in the prompt that shows. - Download the playlist with your local files.

- You're logged in to the same account on both your desktop and mobile
- Your devices are connected to the same WiFi network
- The app is up-to-date on both devices
- Your device is up-to-date
- The Spotify app has access to your local network. Check in your iPhone/iPad settings under Spotify

Make sure:

- The app is up-to-date on both devices
- Your device is up-to-date
- Click , then Settings.
- Scroll to Local Files and switch Show Local Files on.
- Switch off any sources you don't want.
- Click ADD A SOURCE to select another folder.
Music from that folder is now in Local Files in the menu on the left.

Note: Some of your files may be protected in restricted formats. Install QuickTime on your computer to allow most of these tracks to be played on Spotify.
- .mp3
- .m4p (unless it contains video)
- .mp4 (if QuickTime is installed on your computer)
The iTunes lossless format (M4A) isn't supported.
If your file isn’t supported, we do our best to match it with songs from the Spotify catalog. The version we match with might differ from the original.

Airplay App For Ipad
To see if your TV supports the Spotify app, go to the app store on your TV and search for Spotify. If your TV isn't listed, you can upgrade it with a soundbar or streamer that supports Spotify Connect.

Play directly from the TV app
If the Spotify TV app isn’t working for you:
- Make sure your TV is connected to the internet.
- Check your internet connection is strong. Try playing something else to test it.
- Check your TV app store for any updates to the Spotify app.
- Check your TV's software is up-to-date. If you don't know, check with the manufacturer for how to check and update the version software.
- Check your TV is supported by Spotify. You can check this at Spotify Everywhere or with the device’s manufacturer.
Still not working?
- Restart your TV.
- Restart your WiFi.
- Delete the Spotify app, then reinstall it onto your TV.
- If possible, try a different WiFi connection.

Play from a phone or tablet
If Spotify Connect isn’t working for you:
- Make sure your TV is supported by Spotify. You can check this at Spotify Everywhere or with the device’s manufacturer.
- If this is the first time playing to the TV from your phone/tablet, make sure they're both connected to the same WiFi network. (E.g. if your device’s connected to 4G instead of WiFi, it probably won't work).
- Make sure you have the latest version of Spotify in your device.
- Check all devices' software is up-to-date. If you don't know, check with your devices' manufacturer for how to check and update the version software.
- Check you're not trying to play local files, as they aren’t supported by Connect.
